The Wester House was the first house built on Baldhead Island. It is part of the original Generator Society, which was made up of homes that were built before electricity became available. Wester and his wife built this unique retreat for their family so they could create many memories. Now they are inviting other families to share in the same wonderful island times. The home has undergone a complete renovation, and all the furnishings are new. The spacious home is located only 1/2 mile from the ocean and has a one-level floor plan. The home has 4 bedrooms with an additional sleeping area. The first master bedroom has a king-sized bed and a breathtaking view of the golf course. The second master suite features a king bed with a pull-out sofa. There is a room attached with a daybed. This room is a favorite amongst the kids, with a variety of board games. The third bedroom has a king-size bed, while the fourth has two double beds. The home has 4 bathrooms in total. The second and third bedrooms share a shower, but each has its own vanity and toilet. The living room is spacious and there is a separate sunroom if you want some privacy. The kitchen is stocked to the brim! The kitchen is fully stocked to make your stay as pleasant as possible. A separate bar area is equipped with glassware, a blender, and a juicing machine. You can enjoy family meals in the dining area with a great view of the golf course or on the deck outside under the shade provided by a large live oak tree. The dining and living rooms open onto a large deck that faces the 12th green of the golf course. Enjoy living in harmony and nature, including a garden waterfall on the back deck. Watch the golfers or wildlife roaming the island. You will receive (2) four-passenger golf carts and Wifi with your rental.

When you stay at Wester House, you feel as if someone has invited you Into their home. It is not a typical stay at Bald Head.. It is so much more. You are a part of the adventure of the island's “birth” from the beginning. The land, the windows and decking, the proximity to anything all are pieces that make this a special family time. Four family members enjoyed our Thanksgiving there. It was a year when we could not all be together as a family. But feeling as if we were a part of another home for a bit made it very special. We will share with friends and definitely return.

Wonderful home! You could feel the love. My whole family thought the house was charming and well equipped. And while the kitchen cabinet doors could be updated, it felt like that might interfere with the 1970s Wester vibe. Only other suggestion is upgrading from a beach umbrella to one of the shade sails one sees. They work much better. This is a house to return to again. And again.

Spacious and nice location

Our fa,ily of four and two sets of grandparents enjoyed the home for a long weekend. It had tons of dishes, though cupboards are hard to open but all bathrooms were super clean. This time of year spiders were attached to everything outside but the golf carts were in very good shape (had to have a flat replaced but that was done very quick) and the staff were all very helpful. We were allowed to check out late Sunday which really gave us a lot more time to explore.

Great Family Vacation!

My family of 6 stayed at the Wester House and had such a great time. Everything was so convenient and accommodating. It's right on the golf course and is located pretty centrally so you can scoot to the marina, grocery store, and beach all within about 5 minutes. My mother is handicapped and this was the perfect beach home because it's all one level. I really enjoyed reading about the history of the home as it was the first house built on Bald Head. We will definitely be returning to stay at the Wester House!

Very lovely house. Nice big living room. Large dining table which was great to play cards at.. Nice view of golf course. The two golf carts with curtains were great due to it being cold that week-end. Would definitely rent again.
