Fripp Island Marina

The Fripp Island Marina is located on Old Creek House. This facility is one of the reasons many tourists flock to the island. If you want to go boating and fishing around Fripp Island and its nearby towns, this marina is the jump-off point. 

The marina has a dockage, loading ramp, boat store, and boat slip rentals. If you need gas, tackle, live bait, fishing nets, and boat supplies, you can buy them at this facility. There is also a store where ready-to-eat food products are available.

 

Fripp Island Activity Center

Among the top attractions in South Carolina is the Fripp Island Activity Center. It has a variety of nature, recreation, and fitness programs. You can join a wildlife education program and learn about the various animals protected by the staff at the Activity Center, such as ball python, corn snake, alligator, and sea turtle. 

Visitors can also partake in a guided kayak tour, island bike tour, crabbing lessons, and herpetology classes. The Activity Center also offers movies by the pool.

All skill levels can take a swing at the Ocean Creek Golf Links, a popular golf facility on Fripp Island designed by Davis Love III and Paul Cowley. The 18-hole golf course was opened in 1995, and it features a top-notch layout. 

The Ocean Creek Golf Links is surrounded by marshes and lakes. You can also spot herons, egrets, deer, ospreys, and other wildlife in the facility.

 

Hunting Island Lighthouse

This popular landmark is just 15 minutes away from Fripp Island. The Hunting Island Lights was built in 1859 and became inactive in 1933. It was listed under the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and became the only public-accessible lighthouse in South Carolina. 

The Hunting Island Lighthouse features a 167-step spiral staircase and a balcony that offers spectacular vistas of the Atlantic Ocean.

In its earliest history, Fripp Island was known as a place one could go to experience private hunting excursions just as the Yemassee Indians hunted it years before. As folklore has it, Fripp Island is said to be one of the places that Pirate Blackbeard hid some of his treasures.
