The Winding River House, located in Riverbend at Lake Lure is a beautiful new log home on the riverside surrounded by a picturesque forest. A private lake is just a short distance away. It has a sunny porch overlooking the river, in the private gated community of Riverbend.

Spend the day tubing down a river, swimming in a lake, or just relaxing on your porch! Enjoy the family-friendly environment at the foothills Blue Ridge Mountains.

The location is convenient to nearby restaurants, ziplines, hiking, boating, fishing, and swimming. The Lake Lure Beach and Chimney Rock state park are within a short distance, as are the quaint shops of Chimney Rock, Hendersonville and Flat Rock. Music and theater can be found in Brevard or Flat Rock. This home is 6.0 Miles to the Beach at Lake Lure. It's 7.3 Miles to Chimney Park State Park and 17.3 Miles to the Tryon International Equestrian Center.

More Comforts than Home

This home-away from-home is family-friendly, but unfortunately, there are no four-legged members of the family. It has four bedrooms, bunk beds, and a room for ping-pong and watching movies. The home is equipped with all the comforts you would expect. The main floor has a large living room with a wall full of windows, a gas-log fireplace, a gourmet kitchen with granite countertops, upgraded appliances, a half-bath with a full-size washer and dryer, and a spacious master bedroom with a queen bed, large closet, and private bath. The upper level features two bedrooms with queen beds, a full bath in the hallway, and a loft that separates the two bedrooms. The lower level includes a cozy family area with bunk beds, a full bath and a private room with a queen bed. There is room for everyone.

Winding River House offers endless options! You can go tubing, swimming, or fishing right from your backyard or community area. This home is 6.0 Miles to the Beach at Lake Lure. 7.3 Miles to Chimney rock State Park. 17.3 Miles to the Tryon International Equestrian Center.

Nearby are several excellent golf courses, including Apple Valley Golf Course and Bald Mountain Golf Course. Etowah Valley Country Club & Golf Resort was rated by Golf Digest as one of the 50 best golf destinations in the US. The Lake Lure/Chimney rock area is ideally located for outdoor adventures, including horseback-riding, tubing, water-sports, hiking, museums and theaters, the Biltmore Village and Estate, shopping and restaurants and more.

This beautiful home is located centrally, just 15 minutes away from Bat Cave, 35 from Hendersonville and 50 from Asheville. Charlotte, North Carolina is about 2 hours away. Pisgah National Forest is also nearby (less than an hour from Lake Lure), with its over 500,000 protected acres, and DuPont State Recreational Forest is located 1.25 hours from Lake Lure. These forests offer hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails, as well as horseback riding, beautiful waterfalls, mountaintop views, and more. The Pisgah Forest was the location of a scene featuring Katniss and Gale from The Hunger Games movie and book. The DuPont State Recreational forest was also used for a few small but important scenes.

You can also enjoy the amenities that Riverbend offers: swim in Mirror Lake, kayak (Kayaks are provided), build sandcastles at Mirror Lake Beach, have a picnic under the covered picnic area, complete with picnic tables, chairs, stone fireplaces for BBQ lunches, restrooms, and breathtaking views; hike, bike or jog on one of the many trails, or relax by the river and waterfall. This home decorates for Christmas.

AREA WIDE NOTE: Lake Lure is undergoing a drawdown beginning January 1, 2024 and lasting through the first quarter (March 31, 2024). The lake will be lowered approximately 1 foot per a day until it reaches 12 feet. During this time, infrastructure maintenance, dredging and dam projects will be accelerated. These efforts by the town of Lake Lure could affect the access to the lake or restrict any lake use. Click here for more information. The lake is expected to return to normal levels in mid-late April. We understand that this is an inconvenience but it allows you to enjoy Lake Lure's full beauty during the holiday season and fall. This will not affect smaller lakes in the region, only Lake Lure.

All of our vacation rentals are smoke-free. This home and property does not allow pets. Parking is limited to two (2) vehicles. Parking is limited to two (2) vehicles. Check-in is at 4:00 pm local time or later. Check-out is at 10:00 am local time.
