Welcome to Spice Ridge Retreat! 
Come and stay at this beautiful, contemporary mountain cottage near Grandfather Mountain. It is located between Boone and Banner Elk. Boone and Banner Elk both are less than 10 miles away. Blowing Rock is only twelve (12) miles from the hotel. The village of Valle Crucis is less than ten miles away. It has a beautiful community garden, the original Mast General Store and the Watauga river, as well as great shopping, restaurants and more.  
Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, located seven (7) miles away from Spice Ridge Retreat, offers snow skiing, snowboarding and ice skating. Beech Mountain Ski Resort, Appalachian Ski Mountain, and other ski resorts are located about fifteen (15) miles apart, in different directions. Both offer skiing, snowboarding and ice skating as well as snow tubing and sledding. Hawksnest Snowtubing & Ziplines is located just across HWY105 on Seven Devils. It's a six (6)-mile drive.  
Grandfather Mountain can be reached in a few miles, depending on the direction you take and what you plan to do once you arrive. The Profile Trail is a great hiking trail. The animal sanctuary is a great place to see local NC mountain wildlife. And of course, you must see the famous Mile High Swinging Bridge.  
Tweetsie Railroad, and the neighboring High Gravity Adventures, are great for kids and young adults. About fifteen (15) miles from Spice Ridge Retreat. Spice Ridge Retreat is located less than two (2) mile from the Watauga river, which offers fishing holes and creeks for miles in both directions. Lake Watauga is also less than 30 miles away. We have the New River, the Elk River and both within 15 minutes. Linville Caverns and Linville Falls are two regional attractions that are within twenty (20 miles).  
Spice Ridge Retreat is a ten-mile drive from both Appalachian State University (ASU) and Lees McRae College (LMC). This location is perfect for homecoming, home sporting events, graduation, orientation and for visiting alumni.  
You will find in the home furniture and finishes that are fit for the most discerning guests. This home offers its guests luxury without the high cost. The kitchen is stunning with a central bar stool island, a coffered wood ceiling, custom-made reclaimed barn-wood cabinets and shelving, hammered-copper accents above the cooktop, granite counters, stainless appliances and more. The kitchen is open into the great room, which has comfortable furniture centered around a wood-burning stove. The dining area is located past the great room furniture. It features a beautiful cedar live-edge dining table with bench seats and a custom rustic bar that matches the custom chandelier. The dining table can seat eight (8) people comfortably, plus two (2) additional guests at the kitchen island. A cozy screened-in patio with comfortable furniture and mountain views is adjacent to the dining area and great room. A small side stoop is equipped with a stainless-steel gas grill. On the main floor, there is a queen-sized bedroom with mountain views. There is also a bunk room with a twin bed on top and a full bed below. The central custom-built full bathroom has a timeless character with a freestanding footed tub with a handheld wand and wood floors. It also features beadboard wainscoting, a reclaimed beam vanities with a large rectangular porcelain vessel sink, and a desk.  
The loft is located upstairs at the top of the stairs. It has a concave sofa, a chaise lounge chair and an armchair. They are all positioned in front of a large HD Smart TV on a reclaimed Lineberry Cart. The loft's carpeted flooring is comfortable for your feet and absorbs sound. The master bedroom suite is located next to the loft. It has a queen-sized bed, an HDTV and a private bathroom. The bathroom features heated tile floors, an enclosed tiled shower, a tufted chair and a marble makeup counter.  
The grounds include a wood-burning, stone-lined fire pit and outdoor seating to enjoy the mountain views. A large, hand hewn log mediation bench faces the view. There is a gravel parking area that can accommodate up to four cars and a rolling wooded ground where children can play and explore in safety.  
The neighborhood is gated. The cottage is filled with special custom touches. There are reclaimed wood accents everywhere, hammered accents, rustic branch designs, custom lighting fixtures, and much more. These things cannot be fully appreciated or experienced by the photos and virtual tours alone. Spice Ridge Retreat offers a variety of comforts, including central heating and air conditioning, WiFi, HD Smart TVs, and digital programming. Spice Ridge Retreat is the perfect place to stay if you want to experience the High Country.

*Neighborhood insists that renters bring tire chains regardless of the road conditions on arrival. On gravel roads, drivers should expect only one lane. These roads are dangerous even with the slightest amount of ice or snow.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
You can cancel your booking within 24 hours and receive a refund in full. If you cancel your booking more than 30 days prior to arrival, you'll receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made within 30 days of the arrival date will not be refunded. If you have purchased travel insurance, and the reason of the cancellation is covered by the policy, you can recover the full amount.
