This home gives the curb appearance and can be used as a large single family home while providing 5,000 square feet of side by side living. In the center, there is one white, sweeping, cinderella staircase rising up to the front porch. Inside, there is a vestibule with entrance to each side. This is a wonderful home for family reunions and weddings.The entire house has been professionally decorated and it is beautiful. The first floor has 8 bedrooms with 6 baths, 2 laundry rooms and 2 outside showers. There are 4 queen size bedrooms on this floor, two bedrooms with twin beds, and 2 bunk rooms. Each room is wired for cable, telephone, and music. The views are even more breath taking from the second floor. The 2 great rooms, 2 kitchens, and 2 living areas were designed with an open plan to maximize the views. Similarly, the corner fire places with space above for your flat screen TV is situated for viewing from anywhere in the kitchen or living area. The two master king bedroom suites with custom bathroom and private balcony are on the second floor. Two half bathrooms are also on this floor. The third floor has the 2 get-a-way penthouse suites with queen size beds and a full custom bathrooms. Your private balcony will let you see for miles the fabulous views of the ocean and watch the sun rise and set and the dolphins at play. This is a fully equipped luxury property. Check it out- http://ntbnc.org/park.aspx The longest fishing pier on the East Coast is a leisurely 20 minute down the beach. You can rent fishing gear and buy bait. They will cook your catch! They have a great little restaurant. Good activity for one day- get your group together for a walk down the beach. Collect sea shells. Stop at the Seaview for lunch or brunch. Pay $1, and walk the pier to see how the fishermen are doing. Check it out- http://www.seaviewfishingpier.com/ Visit the very unique Turtle Hospital- http://www.seaturtlehospital.org/ A big loggerhead deposited 100+ eggs on our private beach last year. Go surfing. Our beach is a popular surf spot. Bring your surfcaster (or rent one at the Seaview) and fish off our private beach for dinner. Visit Grants Fish(910 327-3351) and see the pet alligator while buying fresh local shellfish or fish to bring home to cook. Drive to Wilmington and tour several of the beautiful plantation homes. Enjoy a meal at one of the restaurants on the river and then enjoy a horse drawn carriage ride. At sunset, gather for drinks on our 3rd floor deck to watch magnificent sunsets over the Intra Coastal Waterway. At night, sit out on the bench on the dune crossover and watch the moonbeam on the water or see how many stars you can count. Sit on the beach, listen to the rhythmic sounds of the shore break, dig your toes into the sand, and read that book you've been wanting to read. Or, watch the precision formations of the pelicans overhead. Or, take a nap! We and our four children and their children do a beach vacation every year. Our week together is always special, but this year it was outstanding. I know Jim and Paulette didn't have anything to do with the great weather or the dolphin pod right in front of the house, but they had everything to with what went on in the house. The outside showers and hoses were great - the kids and we used them religiously, and it made 'our house' such a snap to keep clean and comfortable. I also loved the kitchen and gas grill for meal preparation and the dining area and decks for eating. (The kids loved eating outside). It was also wonderful that there was plenty of room for everybody - adults and children. We never felt cramped. We were met by the property manager who showed us all the nooks and crannies and wonderful features and who was on call if we needed him. (We didn't: the house is in excellent condition, and it was sparkling clean). A really personal touch was Jim's calling us twice to make sure we had everything we needed. It is obvious that Jim and Paulette take reat pride in their home and want everything to be perfect for those who rent it. The boogie boarding was fantastic, and there is a public boat ramp less than a mile away where we put in the boat and took the kids tubing and fishing. There is a park with playground equipment and tennis courts with a short walk from the house. There was also a gazebo there where the younger children caught and released loads of little fish. Step out onto the many available porches and admire the ocean waves, clean sand, quiet beach and sunrise on your next vacation. This home was very well maintained and we will definitely be back. Those looking for a relaxing beach vacation need look no further. In the morning, watch the dolphins and admire the sunrise. Swim in the clean and warm ocean water. Relax in the sand. Great place for fishermen. We caught keeper shrimp, fluke, oysters, clams, black fish and even an octopus and never set foot on a boat. Wilmington is a short 1hour drive away for a historic or Hollywood back lot tour. "One Tree Hill" is currently filmed there and Chad Michael M-----, the actor, dined at the same restaurant we did. Luckily we were also able to get pictures with him. Owners and staff were terrific- very helpful and conscientious about caring for the property without being intrusive. Love it, love it, love it! 10/29/07 We rented both sides to the McGrath house for our church's Ladies' Retreat in October. The ladies just fell in love with the house. We had a wonderful time and it fit all our needs! Thanks for making our retreat a REAL retreat! Kim Harrison, Raleigh, NC 09/11/07 We recently stayed at both 392 & 394 the last week of August 2007. We were married on the beach directly in front of the house, our whole experience was more than what we had hoped for. Our family and friends stayed with us and no one has stopped talking about the experience yet. We had large family breakfasts and dinners every night and plenty of room for everyone to relax and be comfortable. The sunrise and sunset views nightly were incredible. Jim and Paulette have built a true masterpiece on the ocean. With only one house to the right and a few to the left you are almost on a secluded beach. Our whole experience was a true slice of paradise. The property manager, Paulie, was also very gracious and helpful in anyway possible. We are trying to make our plans to get a family reunion/vacation together for 2008. We will definitely be back and I recommend this house to anyone. Luke Hockman, Kensington, MD 09/05/07 We rented the Sunrise side of the house for the 2007 Labor Day weekend and had a wonderful time in this beautifully decorated oceanfront home. The views of the ocean were spectacular especially from the great room with the open floor plan. The dumb waiter was great for bringing up luggage and groceries from the street level. All the decks around the house were great, and from the penthouse level we could see all the stars in the sky at night. The house has all the amenities and is a wonderfully furnished beach house in great taste. The kitchen and seating areas were very roomy and comfortable as was the entire house. An extra sink and small refrigerator in the kitchen came in very handy. The outdour gas grill was great to cook on. Flat screens in the main living area and in all the bedrooms were a real treat. Wonderful 1/2 bath off the kitchen done beautifully. A very private spot on the beach and we would say one of the nicest if not the nicest house on the beach in North Topsail. We all had a terrific time and would love to come back again. Thanks Paulette for all your help and hospitality- it was a great weekend of memories we'll not forget!!! Bonnie (bsnoopy7@aol.com) 09/04/07 Positive Our family spent a wonderful week at the McGrath Sunset half of the duplex in North Topsail Beach. The house was beautifully furnished and very functional. There were three master suites, a generous bunk room for the kids and plenty of sleeping space. There were spectacular and sweeping views of the beach, which was quiet and peaceful. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking and the outdoor gas grill worked well on the windy deck. The duplex is well-built and insulated so that we never heard the neighbors in the other unit. The house is tall and the dumbwaiter was very helful in moving groceries and luggage without hauling these items up the tall staircase. There is a commercial pier a couple of miles down the road for fising and plenty of fish markets nearby. A pleasant public activity area with a pier on the Intercoastal Waterway is a short distance away. The McGraths were unfailingly helpful and their manager was accessible and responsive to any questions that we had. I CAN RECOMMEND THIS RENTAL WITHOUT HESITATION. Kathy, Brookfield, Wisconsin |
